David Drake

David Drake is the Obie Award鈥搘inning playwright/performer of The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me. As a director, last September he staged the world premiere of J. Stephen Brantley鈥檚 The Jamb at NY鈥檚 Kraine Theatre. Twice a Directing Fellow at Sundance Theatre Lab, last fall David received a residency at the BRIC in Brooklyn to develop his new music-theater piece with Migguel Anggelo and Mau Quiros, The Suitcase Project. With the latter, David also wrote and directed Another Son of Venezuela at Joe鈥檚 Pub (New York Magazine Critic鈥檚 Pick). Other directing credits: Taylor Mac鈥檚 Under-the-Radar debut in The Be(a)st of Taylor Mac, and Mac鈥檚 Obie-winning The Lily鈥檚 Revenge at Here. Recent acting credits: HBO鈥檚 Vinyl and costarring with Alan Cumming in Vincent Gagliostro鈥檚 upcoming feature film After Louie. In March, David directs the New York premiere of Bob Bartlett鈥檚 Bareback Ink for Hard Sparks theater company at IRT.
