Course Description
Summary
This course will provide the student a broad platform from which to continue investigations in painting. Emphasis will be placed on cultivating individual research and conceptual concerns as well as the continued development of an understanding of color, form, and space. The daily experience of looking, along with the history of art will provide a base from which investigations will be made. Formal, poetic and social implications within artwork, both form class and from art history will be examined and discussed. Students will complete work weekly, there will be regular group critiques, individual reviews, reading assignments and lectures by visiting artists. A high degree of motivation is expected.Prerequisites
At least one prior painting course at Bennington.
