Movement Practice: Advanced Dance Technique
DAN4344.01
Course Description
Summary
This advanced movement class will develop from simple skeletal mobility sequences to expansive movement forms. The warm-up will examine the joints and how their range of motion relates to alignment, readiness to move, and articulation. These principles will then become the foundation for traveling sequences and longer movement phrases. Distinguishing between tempo, rhythm, and phrasing will also be a priority. Our goal will be to find a way of working that makes technique central to our daily movement practice without it inhibiting our individual approaches to dancing and making work.Prerequisites
Prior movement training and permission of the dance faculty.
