Course Description

Summary

In this course we will begin to explore the many possibilities of the book as an artist's medium. Students will make books, but also study other artists' work in order to understand the extremely broad range of options and approaches that can be taken to making artists' books. In this rigorous course, students will make a series of book projects. This will be achieved in 7 weeks using simple bindings and straight forward printing techniques such as silkscreen, monotypes, and polyester laser plates. Students will be encouraged to bring some printing knowledge and/or experience with the book arts. This course will be offered the first seven weeks of term.
