Seeing It Through: Developing Movement Material

DAN4121.01
Course System Home Terms Fall 2015 Seeing It Through: Developing Movement Material

Course Description

Summary

Trusting the experience of each individual body, we will make new movement material from a variety of sources. By asking questions about this newly found material, we will be able to locate the essential properties in an immediate, tangible way. Then, we will work on how to evolve and transform them. Students’ compositional drafts will be viewed and discussed regularly, opening up conversations on structure, organization, and disorganization. In order to expand the process, we will develop bi-products for our making through writing, drawing, collage, and storytelling. We will develop the results of this research with a view to presenting and performing in studio showings, produced performances, and/or dance workshops. Attendance at Dance Workshop (Thursday 7 – 8:30 pm) is highly recommended.
