Course Description

Summary

How can Theatre, Visual Arts, Music and Dance build international peace, or help youth in at-risk situations, or help victims of genocide, or heal the environment?  Guest artists will discuss their particular projects, and students will investigate various efforts, both local and international, that involve the Arts for peace or social action.  Students will write several short papers on existing projects, and in the second half of the term, work to create individual or collaborative proposals for future projects.  Students who wish, may submit their project proposal as a Davis Grant for Peace.  (51成人猎奇 is a partner school.  Grant of $10,000.  Project to be done in Summer 2016.  See )

Prerequisites

Permission of the instructor. Previous experience in the Arts or work in the social sector preferred.
