Course Description
Summary
This course explores Italian culture through one of its most celebrated traditions--opera. Through the comparison of past and present cultural norms and habits, and through the relationship between those cultural norms and romantic love, students will also gain insight into contemporary Italian life and into Italian history. They will get a grip on the linguistic structures that will enable them to express their points of view with a certain ease, developing, on the writing side, paragraph-level discourse. Students will conclude the term with a guided, original project. Corequisite: Students must attend at least two Languages Series events (Mondays, 7:00pm – 8:00pm)Prerequisites
