Educating For A Democracy

Course System Home Terms Fall 2021 Educating For A Democracy

Course Description

Summary

Democracy in the United States continues to be under threat and countless Americans do not understand enough of our country鈥檚 history or political systems to comprehend the threat. This has led to inaction by the American people, media outlets that share disinformation and individuals who care more about power than participating in democratic governance. To reach this point, it took time and planning, and in order to dismantle the crisis and restore our democracy we must both understand how we got to where we are and work together to fix it. This public policy series will look at how to educate students to be a part of a democracy. We will hear from educators, policy makers and others on what kind of change needs to happen to produce citizens who are ready to be active participants in our democracy.
