Course Description

Summary

This workshop is concerned with investigating the interaction of projected manipulated imagery with performers, motion, and space. We will explore spaces and objects through 3d mapping; the results will then be manipulated and projected back into the space. We will also explore performers movement through motion capture of gestures that will be further manipulated digitally. Integrating ways to use live video within a performance will be experimented with, including real-time manipulation of the captured footage. The results from this workshop could be applied to performance, animation, video and other interdisciplinary areas, including a potential series of experimental hybrid performances in Spring 2015. Investigation will center on how projections alter the reality of what they are projected on (buildings, objects, people) and our perception of what is real. The above is slightly hypothetical. This course will be offered the second seven weeks of the term.
