Advanced Interdisciplinary Projects in Emusic

Course System Home Terms Spring 2015 Advanced Interdisciplinary Projects in Emusic

Course Description

Summary

This course focuses on the creation of interdisciplinary collaborative projects that include sound as a primary component, pairing advanced e-music students with students working in other disciplines including but not limited to the arts.  Students will form collaborative teams, with each team developing a semester-long compositional, installation, performance or intermedia project.  Collaborators will develop their projects throughout the semester via dialogue, research activities, and experimental process. Documentation of work-in-progress will include journals and audiovisual media, to be presented in class for constructive dialogue and feedback. We will also discuss short readings that explore critical, conceptual and aesthetic issues in contemporary arts practice,  informing students' articulation of their intentions for their work. Students will publicly present their projects by end of term.
