Course Description

Summary

The goal of the course is to introduce students to material in the form of a symposium.  Students will engage deeply and intimately with ideas and texts presented by visiting artists/scholars and peers.  The symposium is also an opportunity for students to think  through and discuss their own ideas, projects, concerns, and futures in relation to others.

Variable Credit, 1-2 Credits

Learning Outcomes

  • Students will share an expanded understanding of dance as an agent of social change.
  • Students will have a deepened awareness of the role of dance in society within both local and global contexts.
  • Students will develop innovative and experimental ways to language dance both verbally and in writing

Prerequisites

Enrollment in Low Residency MFA Dance program required.
