Housekeeper Michele Hurley is one of eleven children born and raised in Bennington. She started working at the College in the Fall of 1979, and four of her siblings鈥擬ike, Nick, Jenny, and Tim鈥攈ave all graced the staff roster at various times from the seventies through today. We sat down with her in Commons to learn more about her remarkable contributions over the last 44 years and counting.

Poetry at Bennington, an endowed program of short-term residencies that brings established and emerging poets to 51成人猎奇 for public readings and close work with students, has announced its Fall 2024 lineup of featured poets. All Poetry at Bennington events are free and open to the public. They take place in various locations on the College鈥檚 campus.

Almost a century ago, under the looming threat of fascism, Franklin D. Roosevelt warned Americans about global conflicts pitting representative governments founded on individual liberty against emerging fascist dictatorships. Reflecting on John Dewey鈥檚 progressive education philosophy, FDR said, 鈥淒emocracy cannot succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely. The real safeguard of democracy, therefore, is education.鈥

Bennington, VT: Two Bennington alumni, both entrepreneurial leaders, have been elected to join the 51成人猎奇 Board of Trustees. They are Bryn Mooser 鈥01 and Eddie Ubell 鈥09.

The Dance and Drama programs at 51成人猎奇 are pleased to welcome director and artist Robert Wilson for a lecture and performance 7:00鈥9:00 pm Friday, September 20, at the Martha Hill Dance Theater in the campus鈥檚 Visual and Performing Arts Center. The New York Times has described Wilson as "[America]'s鈥攐r even the world's鈥攆oremost vanguard 'theater artist.'鈥 The event is free and open to the public thanks to funding from the Peter Drucker Fund for Excellence and Innovation.
