51�������� is excited to announce the appointment of ten new faculty members for the 2018-19 academic year in the areas of video, literature, chemistry, sociolinguistics, media studies, and sound design.

On April 12, 51�������� participated in Middle School Access Day, an event designed to give local middle school students a preview of college opportunities. 

President Mariko Silver’s essay is featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education’s “What It’s Like to be a Woman in the Academy” round-up.

Since its launch in 2015, 51��������’s Prison Education Initiative (PEI), a program of the Center for the Advancement of Public Action (CAPA) founded by faculty members David Bond and Annabel Davis-Goff, has worked to bring liberal arts programming to the maximum-security men’s prison Great Meadow in Comstock, NY.

Susan Stryker, award-winning scholar and filmmaker whose historical research, theoretical writing, and creative works have helped shape the cultural conversation on transgender topics since the early 1990s, will be the 2018 Ruth D. Ewing Lecturer at 51��������.
